Comedian and reality show champion Munawar Faruqui is set to co-host an all-new reality show titled The Society, premiering July 21 on JioHotstar. The unique concept brings together 25 contestants divided into three social classes—Royals, Regulars, and Rags—who will engage in over 200 hours of intense gameplay. Co-hosted by influencer Shreya Kalra, the show is described as a “sociological experiment” exploring the dynamics of privilege, hierarchy, and class structure in a controlled environment.
Lessons from Kangana and Salman
Speaking at a promotional event in Mumbai, Munawar opened up about the values he has adopted from his previous reality show experiences. Having won both Bigg Boss 17 hosted by Salman Khan and Lock Upp hosted by Kangana Ranaut, Munawar said he tries to absorb the best qualities from everyone he works with.
He praised Kangana Ranaut for her unmatched punctuality, saying, “I don’t think Kangana has ever come late on set. From her, I learned that professionalism and time management are crucial.” In contrast, Munawar joked that Salman Khan taught him the opposite—being fashionably late—but quickly added a more serious note: “From Salman bhai, I’ve truly learned kindness. The stories we hear about him inspire us to be better people. His generosity is unmatched.”
Acting Debut with ‘First Copy’
Munawar also recently made his acting debut with the web series First Copy, which premiered on Amazon MX Player on June 20. Set in 1990s Mumbai, the show follows Arif, a man who rises through the underground world of film piracy after facing workplace humiliation. The gritty drama explores his journey into crime and the moral dilemmas that follow.
With The Society, Munawar adds another dynamic project to his growing portfolio.
