Popular TV actress Dipika Kakar, Sasural Simar Ka fame, recently announced that she was diagnosed with stage 2 liver cancer. What started with the detection of a tumour in her liver turned out to be a cancerous condition, prompting a 14-hour-long surgery and a grueling recovery process.
14-Hour Surgery and ICU Stay
Upon diagnosis, Dipika was subjected to a 14-hour critical surgery and then three days in the ICU. Fortunately, the surgery was a success and the actress is recuperating at home. She documented her ordeal in an emotional vlog, thanking her fans, family, and friends for all the prayers and wishes she had received.
Breaking Down After Diagnosis
In the vlog, Dipika spoke about the day she found out the tumour was cancerous. Her husband Shoaib Ibrahim had already received the AFP test results but decided not to inform her until they reached the hospital. Dipika remembered the sobbing moment outside the hospital corridor when she found out the reality. “We both collapsed,” she remembered, describing how she and Shoaib hugged each other and sobbed upon hearing the news.

Shoaib Ibrahim: Strong Support
During this challenging stage, Shoaib remained Dipika’s pillar of strength. She explained how he cared for her like a father, reminding her to take her medicines and being strong for her. The hardest aspect, according to Dipika, was keeping away from their baby son, Ruhaan, during her hospital stay.

Road to Recovery
Dipika is now back home and has ensured that she is tumor-free. She did say that her treatment process is continuing. She concluded the vlog on a positive note by thanking everybody for their love and requesting their continued prayers.
