Television actress Dipika Kakar has opened up about her recovery following surgery for stage 2 liver cancer. Admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Hospital for over a week, Dipika confirmed in her first health update that she is now free from the tumour. However, she noted that further treatment is still required.
Gratitude and Strength
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Dipika shared glimpses of her hospital journey and expressed gratitude to the medical team, her family, and fans. “11 Days of being here and now home… Free from the tumour… but this is one part of the treatment done… remaining will follow in the coming time,” she wrote.
Dipika described the past 11 days as difficult but manageable due to the support she received. “Ye 11 din mushkil the but because of the amazing ppl we had around… things went smooth… there was suffering but it was all handled with a lot of warmth,” she added, acknowledging the care given by the hospital staff.
Love From Fans
The actress also thanked fans for their unwavering love and prayers. “My biggest strength has been the love, prayers & blessings that you all have showered on me…. Dil se thank you… bahut himmat mili aap sabka pyaar dekhke,” she shared emotionally.

Shoaib Ibrahim on Recovery
Her husband, Shoaib Ibrahim, provided further insight in a vlog. He confirmed that while the surgery was successful, the tumour was malignant. “Everything is fine right now, but we’ve only crossed one milestone. There are still many things ahead,” he said. The couple will return to the hospital in a week for further assessments and to decide the next phase of treatment.
Dipika’s health issues began with severe stomach pain, which led to the discovery of a tumour. Now back home, the couple is focused on recovery—one step at a time.
