War 2, one of the most anticipated films of the year starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, continues to generate massive buzz. In a major update, the Telugu theatrical rights of the film have been sold for a whopping Rs 80 crore.
As reported by Gulte, Naga Vamsi’s Sithara Entertainments has acquired the rights for the Telugu-speaking states. Although Yash Raj Films (YRF) had plans to release it themselves in that market initially, they ended up partnering with a local distributor, acknowledging the unmatchable fan following of Jr NTR in the South.
The producers are said to have initiated talks with a quote of Rs 100 crore but the deal was finally reached at Rs 80 crore. This is not the first time Sithara Entertainments has made a big bet on a Jr NTR project earlier, they acquired the Telugu rights of his next film Devara starring Janhvi Kapoor for Rs 120 crore.
