Tamil cinema actor Srikanth has landed in serious legal trouble after being linked to a drug case. The 46-year-old was placed under judicial custody on Monday night, June 24, following nearly eight hours of interrogation by the Nungambakkam police. He will remain in custody until July 7, as ordered by the 14th Metropolitan Magistrate in Egmore.
Narcotics Found in Medical Examination
Srikanth underwent a medical test at Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, where his blood samples reportedly confirmed the presence of narcotics. Following this development, the police took him for remand before placing him in judicial custody.
Larger Drug Network Under Investigation
The case appears to be part of a wider drug network. Srikanth’s name emerged during the interrogation of former AIADMK functionary T. Prasad, who is suspected of supplying cocaine to Srikanth and another actor. The police have already arrested Pradeep Kumar from Salem and, based on his inputs, apprehended a Ghanaian national named John from Hosur. Authorities recovered 11 grams of narcotics during the operation.
A Longstanding Career in Tamil Cinema
Srikanth has been active in the entertainment industry for over two decades. He began his career in 1999 with the television show Janal – Marabu Kavithaigal. He has featured in several notable Tamil films including Kana Kanden, Manasellam, Nanban, Poo, Sathurangam, and East Coast Road. Most recently, he was seen in Konjam Kadhal Konjam Modhal (Tamil) and Errachehra (Telugu).
