The countdown has officially begun for Coolie, the much-awaited action drama starring superstar Rajinikanth. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film is set for a massive theatrical release on August 14, clashing with War 2, featuring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR.

To kick off the promotional campaign, the makers unveiled a new poster featuring Rajinikanth in a fierce, axe-wielding avatar. Shared by Sun Pictures on X (formerly Twitter), the image quickly went viral. Fans flooded social media with excitement, with one writing, “Cannot wait to see #Thalaivar on the big screen,” while another called it a “treat” to see Rajinikanth and Aamir Khan in the same release window.
Lokesh Kanagaraj Shares Emotional Rajinikanth Moment
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, director Lokesh Kanagaraj recalled a touching moment after a private screening of the film. “Rajini sir hugged me and said, ‘It looked like Thalapathi for me!’ That was the best compliment I could have received,” he said, calling it a peaceful and emotional night after months of hard work.
