The teaser for Prabhas’ upcoming film The Raja Saab has finally dropped, and fans are thrilled to see the superstar embracing a lighter, more humorous side. Directed by Maruthi, the horror-fantasy promises to break away from Prabhas’ recent run of intense, high-octane action films. The teaser, with its quirky tone and fantasy-laced visuals, has sparked renewed excitement among fans ahead of its release on December 5, 2025.
A New Chapter for Prabhas
The Raja Saab represents a notable shift in tone for Prabhas. After headlining massive productions like Saaho, Radhe Shyam, Adipurush, and the upcoming Kalki 2898 AD, the actor appears to be diving into a story that blends horror with humor and fantasy. At the Hyderabad teaser launch, producer TG Vishwa Prasad and director Maruthi opened up about the production challenges and the grueling schedule involved in bringing the film to life.

Prasad revealed that though the film took two and a half years to complete, a major chunk of shooting happened in a condensed window between July and December last year right after Prabhas wrapped work on Kalki 2898 AD. “Maruthi worked from 6 am to 11 pm for over 120 days,” he said, underlining the director’s intense commitment. He also noted that nearly 300 days were dedicated to VFX, highlighting the project’s technical ambition.
Actor Demands and Crew Endurance
Director Maruthi further explained how actor schedules were accommodated within an overall demanding production. “Actors will work an 8-hour shift. I’ll arrange them accordingly. But our crew works 18 hours a day morning 6 am to 10 pm regularly,” he explained, emphasizing the behind-the-scenes effort that enabled such a high-quality output.
The ‘Spirit’ Controversy: Deepika Out, Triptii In
While The Raja Saab grabs headlines, Prabhas’ next film Spirit, directed by Animal filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga, continues to be a hot topic largely due to Deepika Padukone’s reported exit. Sources suggest her departure stemmed from unfulfilled conditions, including a fixed 8-hour workday, a hefty salary, profit-sharing, and reluctance to speak Telugu. Though the Raja Saab team refrained from naming anyone, their remarks on managing actor schedules seemed to subtly reflect the ongoing Spirit conversation.

Following Deepika’s exit, Triptii Dimri, fresh from her breakout role in Animal, has been brought on board as the female lead in Spirit, which is set to begin filming later this year.
