Aamir Khan Unleashes Fiery Persona! First Look as ‘Dahaa’ in Rajinikanth’s Coolie Revealed

The much-anticipated Rajinikanth-Aamir Khan starrer Coolie recently unveiled Aamir Khan’s character poster, creating massive buzz online. Adding to the excitement, the poster also announced that the film would be released in IMAX format, which thrilled fans—but shocked the film industry.

IMAX Mention Raises Eyebrows
According to a Bollywood Hungama report, insiders have raised concerns about the IMAX branding on Coolie’s poster. A trade source revealed, “War 2 and Coolie are both releasing on August 14, but War 2 has already secured an exclusive IMAX deal in India and key global markets. This agreement should technically block Coolie from using the IMAX format during that period.”

Furthermore, the source added that IMAX Corporation is extremely strict about how its branding is used. “You’re either allowed to write ‘Experience it in IMAX’ or ‘Filmed for IMAX.’ The Coolie poster says ‘Watch it in IMAX,’ which could go against the IMAX style guide. Plus, including other formats like D-Box and 4DX in the same poster could violate branding rules.”

Industry Divided on Possibility
However, a South Indian trade source offered a different take: “If the IMAX logo is on the poster, perhaps discussions are already in motion. But ideally, no such announcement should be made before official approval.”

Another source questioned whether Yash Raj Films, the studio behind War 2, would allow Coolie to screen even a non-IMAX version in IMAX theatres given their exclusivity deal.

Two Titans, One Date
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie features a star-studded cast including Rajinikanth, Aamir Khan, Shruti Haasan, and Sathyaraj. On the other hand, Ayan Mukerji’s War 2 stars Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. With both films set for an August 14 release, box office fireworks are guaranteed—possibly off-screen too.
