The Old Guard 2 is an action-packed film released on Netflix. The film is directed by Victoria Mahoney and is a sequel to the 2020 film The Old Guard. The screenplay for the film The Old is written by Greg Rucka and Sarah L. Walker, based on their comic book The Old Guard. As a sequel to the first film, the film stars Charlize Theron, Kiki Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Veronica Ngo and Chiwetel Ejiofor reprising their roles from the first film while Henry Golding and Uma Thurman join the cast.
Story
The story of the film The Old Guard 2 revolves around Andy, who has lost his immortality and now has to work on a new mission. In this mission, he has to save humanity with his team of immortal warriors. But this time there are new enemies, which can prove to be a threat to Andy and his team. Old companion Quinn has also returned, who is now Andy’s target after being trapped underwater for centuries. The first part of the film was much talked about and was liked by the audience, but this film turned out to be weak. Action and emotion are visible in its story, yet the screenplay seems loose. The pace of the film also seems slow at times.
Acting
Charlize Theron is the soul of the film The Old Guard 2 and her character of Andy is as strong as before. She does everything that makes her fans go crazy. KiKi Layne is fine in her role, but her story needed more depth. Uma Thurman and Henry Golding looked fine as new faces, but their roles could have been written better.
Direction
Although the director of the film has filmed the action scenes brilliantly, but Victoria Mahoney’s direction becomes a bit weak and it seems that she is making The Old Guard 2 keeping the story of the third part in mind. I think that because of this the film looks incomplete in the end and it seems that this film does not give anything. The Old Guard 2 is weaker than the first part. It seems that there is nothing new in this film. Charlize and Uma’s face-off was also awaited, but that too remains incomplete.

Overall
The film The Old Guard 2 has action and emotion, but the magic that was in the first film is missing. The script is loose and the climax seems incomplete. The script of the film seems half-baked which makes this much talked about film ordinary. If you are a fan of Charlize Theron or love the first film, then you can watch it once. But if you want something new and deep, then perhaps this film may disappoint you. 2.5 stars for the film
