Actor Ram Kapoor has landed in the middle of controversy just a few days ahead of the release of his upcoming web series Mistry, which is scheduled to hit Jio Hotstar screens on June 27, 2025. As per reports, the platform has taken him off all the promotion work after he was accused of indecent behavior and making objectionable comments at a recent press conference.

According to a Mid-Day report, the incident took place at a promotional event at JW Marriott Hotel in Mumbai, where Kapoor was present with co-star Mona Kapoor and the Jio Hotstar team. Ram is said to have made sexually inappropriate comments and remarks during the course of media interactions, which embarrassed a number of team members.

One particularly disturbing incident reportedly took place when a female journalist was adjusting Kapoor’s microphone. In an attempt to describe the pressure of back-to-back interviews, Kapoor allegedly made a highly offensive comment, comparing it to “gang rape.” The remark reportedly shocked those present.

Additionally, Kapoor is accused of making a comment on a female PR team member’s clothes, terming them as “distracting.” In another case, he is said to have joked with a male colleague that his mother should have had a headache so he would not be born, along with sexual position references.

After these events, higher management from Jio Hotstar sat down with their HR staff. It was quickly decided that Ram Kapoor would be entirely taken out of all promotional campaigns regarding Mistry. The platform was said to place a great deal of emphasis on preserving workplace dignity and professionalism.

Consequently, the task of dealing with all media and promotional work for the series will now solely fall on actress Mona Kapoor. The move is a sign of increasing intolerance in the entertainment business against inappropriate conduct, especially in workplace environments.
