Scarlett Johansson’s Jurassic World Rebirth Dominates with $30.50 Million Opening Weekend

Jurassic World Rebirth, the latest installment in the iconic dinosaur franchise, has kicked off its domestic box office run with a powerful start. Starring Scarlett Johansson in the lead and directed by Gareth Edwards, the film raked in $30.5 million on its opening day, becoming the sixth biggest opener of 2025.

A Strong Start Amongst Stiff Competition

While Jurassic World Rebirth trails behind the year’s top openers like A Minecraft Movie ($57.1M), Lilo & Stitch ($55.9M), Captain America: Brave New World ($40.9M), How to Train Your Dragon ($35.4M), and Thunderbolts ($31.8M), it still managed to outperform several big titles such as F1, Mission: Impossible 8, Final Destination: Bloodlines, and Sinners. Released strategically over the Independence Day holiday, the film even topped the previous year’s July 4th release, Despicable Me, which earned $27.2 million.

Franchise Comparisons and Weekend Projections

Within its own franchise, Rebirth marks the fourth-best domestic opening day, behind Jurassic World (2015) with $82M, Jurassic World Dominion (2022) with $59.6M, and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) with $58M.

Industry projections suggest a strong 5-day holiday weekend for the film, targeting $125 million to $140 million, with the traditional 3-day total expected to land between $75 million to $85 million. Much will depend on how well the film holds over the weekend.

With Scarlett Johansson bringing star power to a beloved franchise, Jurassic World Rebirth is off to a roaring start. Now, all eyes are on whether it can maintain momentum and match the success of its blockbuster predecessors in the days to come.
