Aamir Khan’s latest emotional drama Sitaare Zameen Par, directed by RS Prasanna, continues to soar at the box office. Despite a modest start, the film has built strong momentum through positive word-of-mouth and growing audience interest. According to early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 4 crore on Day 12 (July 1), pushing its total Indian collection to an impressive Rs 130.40 crore.
Strong Week 2 Performance Despite Competition
Sitaare Zameen Par released on June 20 with a solid opening of Rs 10.7 crore. The film steadily grew in popularity, collecting Rs 88.9 crore in its first week. By Day 11, the film had reached Rs 126.4 crore, holding strong despite facing new releases like Maa and Kannappa.
The film’s Hindi occupancy rate on July 1 stood at 18.29%. The day saw increasing interest from viewers as the day progressed morning shows reported 11.01% occupancy, which grew to 25.84% by night.

A Moving Story of Inclusion and Transformation
Directed by RS Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par tells the story of Gulshan Arora (played by Aamir Khan), a passionate but temperamental basketball coach who is suspended and forced to coach a football team of adults with intellectual disabilities. As he connects with his new team, he undergoes a personal journey of empathy, understanding, and transformation.
Genelia D’Souza plays a pivotal role in the film, which also features 10 promising newcomers, including Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, and Simran Mangeshkar. The film is a spiritual sequel to Khan’s 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par and an official Hindi adaptation of the Spanish hit Campeones.
Big Weekend Ahead: New Releases to Test Film’s Strength
As Sitaare Zameen Par enters its third weekend, it will face stiff competition at the box office. Anurag Basu’s multi-starrer romantic comedy Metro… In Dino, featuring Sara Ali Khan and Aditya Roy Kapur, hits theatres this Friday. Additionally, the Hollywood sci-fi thriller Jurassic World: Rebirth, starring Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali, is also expected to draw large crowds.
