Yash Raj Films’ Saiyaara, starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has emerged as a surprise box office sensation, surpassing all expectations. Directed by Mohit Suri, the romantic drama raked in an impressive ₹81 crore net in its opening weekend the highest ever for a debut-led Indian love story.

Massive Growth Over Weekend
Despite a relatively limited release compared to big-budget star vehicles, Saiyaara showed remarkable momentum. On Sunday alone, the film pulled in an estimated ₹35–37 crore net, marking a massive 40% jump from Saturday and pushing its three-day total beyond ₹80 crore. Strong audience turnout led to additional shows being added across several cities.

With Monday’s early bookings looking robust, trade analysts predict Saiyaara could net another ₹15 crore on its first weekday, depending on how spot bookings hold up. The film continues to attract a wide demographic, from youth to family audiences.

A Comeback for Mohit Suri, New Stars Rise
The film’s success marks a potential comeback for director Mohit Suri, known for Ek Villain. It also positions debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda as rising stars. Industry veteran Mahesh Bhatt even compared Saiyaara’s potential impact to Aashiqui, stating, “Every generation has a love story that defines it. Saiyaara might be that film.”

Tapping into the Romance Void
Film critic Taran Adarsh believes Saiyaara filled a gap Bollywood had long ignored: intense love stories with soul-stirring music. “We’ve forgotten how to make true-blue Bollywood romances,” he said. “Saiyaara reminds us of the power of good music and emotion-driven storytelling.”

With minimal box office competition ahead, Saiyaara is poised for a long and successful theatrical run — proving once again that heartfelt storytelling and fresh faces can still win big.
