Anurag Basu’s latest offering, Metro In Dino, hit theatres on July 4, 2025, and has wrapped up its first week with a net collection of Rs 25.25 crore in India. The film is a spiritual sequel to Basu’s acclaimed 2007 drama Life in a Metro and features an ensemble cast including Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Neena Gupta, and Anupam Kher.
Decent Weekend, Modest Weekday Hold
Jointly produced by T-Series Films and Anurag Basu Productions, the film opened with a modest Rs 3.25 crore on Friday. It witnessed a healthy jump over the weekend, earning Rs 5.75 crore on Saturday and Rs 6.75 crore on Sunday, bringing the weekend total to Rs 15.75 crore.
Weekdays saw the usual drop, with collections as follows:
Monday: Rs 2.50 crore
Tuesday: Rs 2.75 crore
Wednesday: Rs 2.25 crore
Thursday: Rs 2.00 crore
This steady but low-level trend brought the film’s 7-day total to Rs 25.25 crore net.
Competition Heats Up at the Box Office
Going into its second weekend, Metro In Dino faces stiff competition with the release of three new films — Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, Maalik, and the highly anticipated Hollywood superhero film Superman. It also continues to run alongside holdover hits like Jurassic World: Rebirth and F1: The Movie.
