Will a new climax save Crazxy? Sohum Shah’s thriller remains steady at low levels, but can it turn the tide?

Girish Kohli’s directorial debut, Crazxy, which stars Sohum Shah in a gripping role, has been running in theaters for a week. The intense thriller, which delves into the journey of a surgeon, Dr. Abhimanyu Sood, who goes to extreme lengths to save his kidnapped daughter, has seen a steady but slow box-office performance. Despite positive word-of-mouth, the film has struggled to boost its footfalls, earning a modest Rs 5.25 crore net in the first six days of its release.

The Struggle for Footfalls

Although Crazxy has been well-received critically, it has not managed to attract large crowds to theaters. On Day 7, the film is expected to see a 10 percent dip in earnings from Day 6’s Rs 45 lakh. The film also didn’t benefit from the BUY-ONE-GET-ONE movie offers that were available on Wednesday, which could have helped increase foot traffic. The film’s performance has been further challenged by competition from other big releases like Chhaava and Superboys of Malegaon.

Enhancing the Cinematic Experience

In response to audience feedback asking for a more impactful climax, the makers of Crazxy have announced that a revised version with a tweaked ending will be released on March 7, 2025. This new version aims to provide a more satisfying cinematic experience and could draw back viewers who were disappointed with the original climax. Additionally, BUY-ONE-GET-ONE offers have been extended through the weekend, which could bring in more audiences.

Looking Ahead

Despite a relatively underwhelming first week, the changes made to Crazxy and the new incentives may help the film pick up steam in its second week. If these strategies work, the film could still emerge as a decent performer at the box office. Fans of intense thrillers may want to check out the updated version in theaters this weekend.
