During an interview with Variety, Jennie explained the idea behind “Like JENNIE,” stating that the message of the song is all about confidence and having fun. “I want this to be something that gives people confidence and just to have fun. Jennie also recently won on M Countdown with her song “Love Hangover,” which she collaborated on with Dominic Fike. Going up against BLACKPINK group member Jisoo, whose song “Earthquake” was also nominated, Jennie won the award with 7,765 points, while Jisoo received 6,524.
