Renowned singer and composer Adnan Sami, who has long been the subject of online trolling by Pakistani users after accepting Indian citizenship, has finally addressed the criticism in a candid interview with Bollywood Bubble. Speaking honestly, Sami likened the backlash to emotional resentment, saying, “This reaction seems to be more related to emotions than criticism. It is like an ex-boyfriend can’t see you moving forward.”
He emphasized that many people form opinions without truly knowing the reasons behind his decision. “People do not know my circumstances due to which I took Indian citizenship. No one has the right to decide the reason behind my decision on their own,” he stated firmly.
“Anger Was with the Government, Not the People”
Adnan also pointed out the global nature of migration, noting that individuals relocate for various personal and professional reasons all over the world. Yet, when he made a similar choice, it was unfairly turned into a controversy.
Reflecting on his time in Pakistan, he revealed a major disappointment: “Despite my 40-year musical career in Pakistan, I never received any honor or award from the government.” However, he made it clear that his issue was never with the people of Pakistan. “My anger was with the Pakistani government, not with the Pakistani people. The people have always shown me love, and I hold a special place for them in my heart.”

Music Beyond Borders
Concluding on a positive note, Adnan Sami said his music is universal. “My music is not restricted by any country or border. If anyone wants to connect with my music, I welcome it. Everything will be fine with time.”
