Heartbroken but United! Sabrina Carpenter, Daniel Radcliffe Join Forces with Stars to Support LGBTQ Community in Open Letter

Over 100 prominent Hollywood stars, including Sabrina Carpenter and Daniel Radcliffe, have united to support LGBTQ+ youth suicide prevention services, voicing their strong opposition to proposed federal funding cuts. The celebrities have signed an open letter published by The Trevor Project, urging the U.S. government to preserve critical resources for vulnerable youth.

The letter directly addresses President Joe Biden and Congress, advocating for the continued support of the 988 Suicide Crisis Lifeline’s LGBTQ+ Youth Specialized Services in the Fiscal Year 2026 budget. “We are heartbroken by the proposal to eliminate federal funding… a move that will have devastating, life-threatening consequences,” the letter states. “As artists, creators, and public figures, our platforms come with responsibility… we must speak out to protect the mental health and lives of LGBTQ+ youth.”

Calling for Compassion Over Politics

Emphasizing humanity over political agendas, the letter adds, “No young person should be left without help in their darkest moment. Stripping away this lifeline sends the message that LGBTQ+ youth are not worth saving. We refuse to accept that message.”

The statement highlights the urgent need for positive representation, noting that seeing one’s identity reflected in media can be life-saving. “At a time when LGBTQ+ youth are hearing messages that question their existence, we must remind them they are seen, valued, and loved.”

Concluding with a message of hope, the letter tells LGBTQ+ youth: “You are not alone. We see you. We will not stop fighting for you.”
