Jamie Lever Shares Her Trauma from a Shocking Public Incident

Comedian and actress Jamie Lever, whose father is the celebrated actor of Bollywood, Johny Lever, has bravely revealed her traumatic childhood experiences. These events had a deep impact on her, leading her to stay away from men for years.

A Distressing Incident Outside School
Jamie described a harrowing incident of a stranger exposing himself and masturbating in front of her while standing near her school, Jamnabai Narsee International School in Mumbai’s Vile Parle. She was only 10-12 years old then. “A man came and stood outside the car.he flashed and started masturbating. I was so shocked that I didn’t understand what was happening,” Jamie said.

Additional Incidents and Their Effect
Sadly, this was not a one-time thing. Jamie also experienced unsuitable behavior from a school bus conductor as well as another incident at Andheri station where a man exposed himself to her. All these left her traumatized and suppressed her feelings for years.

The Long-Term Effects
Jamie explained that these experiences made her keep men at bay for several years, influencing her relations and interactions. “Due to these frightening incidents, I did not allow men to be near me for several years. Dating, relations, and even conversing with men occurred later in life,” she explained.

Gaining the Courage to Speak Out
Jamie is now strong enough to narrate her story and defend herself. Her acting career was initiated by her debut in Bollywood in 2015 with “Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon,” which she soon followed with movies such as “Housefull 4” and “Bhoot Police.” She has also crossed over to the South Indian film industry with her first Telugu movie, “Aa Okatti Adakku” in 2024. Sharing her experience, Jamie wants to encourage others to find their voice and courage as she did.
