Much-awaited crime thriller Raid 2 is all set to hit the theatres on May 1, 2025, and the newly dropped trailer has raised the stakes. The sequel to the 2018 hit Raid, directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, brings back Ajay Devgn as the righteous officer Amay Patnaik, who continues his battle against corruption in India’s power corridors. This time, his adversary is the formidable Dada Manohar Bhai, played by Riteish Deshmukh.
A Battle of Power and Corruption
The trailer itself sets up a tense standoff between Patnaik and Bhai, establishing the tone for the high-octane drama. A standout moment features Bhai’s man alerting Patnaik to the men with arms inside, to which Patnaik matter-of-factly replies, “Do you see the government officials outside?” reaffirming his steadfast faith in the law. Patnaik soon discovers, however, that Bhai has considerable influence, with one character cautioning, “The CM doesn’t really run the government; Dada Bhai does.”
Even though Bhai holds such tremendous power, Patnaik’s brashness does not fade away. With a reputation for his 74 raids during his service, Patnaik is committed to bringing the seedy side of corruption into the light, even when Bhai appears always one step ahead.
Star Cast and Music
Besides Ajay Devgn, the film has an excellent supporting cast in Rajat Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla, Supriya Pathak, and Amit Sial. Vaani Kapoor replaces Ileana D’Cruz as the female protagonist of the sequel. The film has a great supporting crew too, with Sudhir Kumar Chaudhary at the helm for cinematography, Sandeep Francis as editor, and a great music score by Amit Trivedi, Yo Yo Honey Singh, among others.
With its suspenseful plot and graphic showdowns, Raid 2 is set to be an adrenaline-pumping follow-up to the original’s rough-and-tough storyline, reaching theaters this International Workers’ Day.
