Recently, Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has been in the news for an old interview during which she talked candidly about her romance and break-up with Akshay Kumar. The pair shared a sultry screen chemistry, but their real-life romance came to a screeching halt when she was dumped by Akshay for Twinkle Khanna, and he then married her. Shilpa was already engulfed in the film Dhadkan (2000) with Akshay and Sunil Shetty during that period, so it wasn’t an easy time for her.
Unfortunate End
In the ’90s, Akshay Kumar was quite a lady charmer, and other than Shilpa, there wasn’t any exception. Such was their romance that it was alleged Akshay dumped her for Twinkle Khanna, whom he later married. Shilpa was already working on Dhadkan (2000), and it was not easy for her.
In a vintage interview, Shilpa confessed, “It has been rough for me, personally, but I am glad that it is all behind me. Every dark cloud has a silver lining. My work was going great, but my personal life was giving me hassles. It feels great that now it is behind me.”
Staying Professional During Heartbreak
Shilpa revealed her determination to close the chapter in the 2000 film Dhadkan rather than let her personal situation interfere with the film’s debut. She said, “I wanted my movie to hit the screens and be released so as not to interfere with my producers’ plans, if the situation in my private life happens to be messy. I waited until Dhadkan was past me.”
Reminding one of the pangs of being betrayed, Shilpa continues with, “When you love someone not realizing that you are being ridden, it can be quite a frustrating experience.”
Despite the heartbreak, Shilpa Shetty enjoyed the best of her life in terms of her career in Bollywood, fitness, and business, and is happily married to Raj Kundra, a businessman.
