Chalamet also addressed the press at a post-premiere press conference, discussing how his experience playing Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown influenced his perspectives on fame and activism. He said that playing Dylan, he learned through the character’s music to be wary of “savior-like figures” and to watch out against the power of cult figures, especially given his role of playing Dylan’s rise to fame and political activism. Timothee’s performance of the legendary singer, which covers his formative years as an artist, has landed him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor at the 97th Oscars.

According to Elijah Wald’s book Dylan Goes Electric, A Complete Unknown documents Bob Dylan’s evolution throughout his career, particularly the turning point when he unveiled electric instruments during the 1965 Newport Folk Festival. The movie also boasts a star-studded cast that includes Edward Norton as Pete Seeger, Elle Fanning as Suze Rotolo, Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez, and Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash.
